Wakehurst Landscape

Early May 2012, we decided to visit Wakehurst Place… we had only been doing our photography for about 4 months and we were such novices.  Whilst looking over the photographs we took, looking back I wish we had really read the photography books before heading out.

You see, every professional photographer will tell you to shoot in RAW, you see by shooting in RAW you can develop your photographs because RAW captures everything and gives the photographer the chance to extract the most image quality.

An article posted on Luminous Landscape site called Understanding Raw Files, really does explain what RAW and jpeg images really do.  Now what I liked about their explanations of the difference between RAW and jpeg, was simply this… I understood it.  Now that is a real bonus especially if you are a novice photographer.. believe me. When people start saying aperture, shutter speed, histogram, focal points, etc you mind does go into overload at times… plus the fact I like sites that keep things simple and explains it in such a way that is easy to comprehend.

Anyway now we both shoot in RAW…. I find that when I process the images in Lightroom I find I can bring out greater detail in the RAW images more than those that have been taken in jpeg format…. (Oh I know I can almost  hear you saying here she goes again,  going on about Lightroom 4 :D ) but honestly Adobe should employ me as a spokesperson for Lightroom… because I love it, and it really does what it says it can do, bit like Ronseal really, “Does exactly what it says on the tin”. :D

Honestly if there is one piece of software I would recommend to any person it would have to be Lightroom 4.

Anyway, the image below was shot in jpeg and you can see clearly how fantastic Lightroom 4 can be to change this image to what I have processed above.
